We’ve updated our Meet the Students page on our website (here) and we thought it’d be fun to highlight one of those students on our blog! Meet SPSU junior, Jackie Bennett, who is majoring in Technical Communication.
Why did you choose your major? I’ve always had an affinity for writing and communication. Aside from Lunch, English was my favorite part of grade school.
What has been your best SPSU extra-curricular activity? Definitely being a part of my sorority! Being able to hang out, study, and do volunteer work with girls who are just like me has really made my college experience a memorable one.
What has been your coolest SPSU experience so far? My coolest experience so far has been being an Orientation Leader a couple summers ago. I loved working with the new freshmen as they came in.
What has been your favorite class? Business Communication.
Where is your favorite place on campus to hang out? I love hanging out at my sorority house with all my sisters. It’s a great place where I can get some studying done, hang out with my sisters, or just take a quick nap on the couch between classes!
Who has been your favorite professor? Misty York is my favorite professor. All of the classes I have with her are a great time thanks to her dry humor and her ability to connect what we’re learning to real world situations. She doesn’t even mind when I ask her a question after class and we end up spending an hour talking about Critical Rhetoric on an article I read that week.
How has SPSU surprised you? I’ve been surprised with the connections I’ve been able to make with all of my professors here. They really care about our futures and helping us do our best.
What one tool do you think you would need to survive a zombie apocalypse? I’m gonna have to choose a good old-fashioned baseball bat.

Hello! This post could not be written any better!
Reading this post reminds me of my previous
room mate! He always kept chatting about this. I will forward this article to him.
Fairly certain he will have a good read. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! We totally agree as well! Thank you for passing the article on…hopefully it strikes the same cord for your friend too. We encourage you to keep reading more postings by our new student bloggers!
